Lidl appoints chief customer officer

Lidl has announced the appointment of Louise Weise as chief customer officer.

Weise has spent over 15 years working for the discount supermarket and joined Lidl as a graduate trainee in 2010.

Over that time, Weise has held several senior roles including head of digital, head of non-food and customer director.

In her new role Weise will also join the supermarket’s board of directors to lead brand and marketing, loyalty and customer insight, in-store customer experience and customer care.

“Louise knows Lidl inside out and brings a brilliant customer-first mindset to the role,” Lidl said. “She’s already played a key part in our growth and has a real talent for connecting strategy with what customers experience in-store every day.”

Earlier this week, Lidl announced it will open 19 UK stores over eight weeks and invest £43 million in refurbishing more than 70 sites.

The expansion, which equates to roughly one opening every other day, will create up to 640 new roles nationwide

The refurbishment programme stretches from Dundee to the Isle of Wight and will deliver new tills, larger freezer capacity and a broader product range, according to the company.

Lidl said modernisation will also add energy-saving features including chillers that use natural refrigerants and smart lighting systems designed to reduce electricity consumption, supporting its journey toward Net Zero.
